This week it was my job to produce an initial rota of when people were willing to work in the exhibition. As a group we felt it would be best to split each of the days into a morning and afternoon shift. I produced the register on excel and listed everyones name alphabetically. I printed a single copy to hand around so that people can write down what times they were prepared to do against their names. I will make a copy of this register for everyone once the times have been finalised.
Business Card revised
I have made a few alterations to the original card. I have added a watermark of the image to the text side of the card. I'm not sure whether this improves the look of the card or whether it is just distracting.
I will probably look at different layouts to use for the text side of the card. I may also change the text type to give a more professional look.
Buisness Card Design

This was the first design I came up with. I wanted to keep the design simple and the layout minimal. I only have the most relevant information required on the back as I wanted to keep text to a minimum. The red and black stripe and text help to give a relation between my buisness card and CV.
CV Design
I've tried to keep the design of my CV as un-complicated as I could. I have used the image I created to head the page. I am hoping that the striking red colours in the image will catch the readers eye. The uniform red and black stripes help to tie the CV and buisness card together.
Hi Jonathan,
ReplyDeleteReally please to know you have been working hard in your CV and business card. You have an obvious ability to understand and work with palette of colours in such a way you use it in your advantage to create unity in your branding. The image you're using is really good and interesting, BUT (sorry!) I don't think will be very clear for the reader (and your potential client) that is a 3D image you created. Why don't you leave this image for your portfolio, to show it with the importance it deserves. I truly believe you will have to give an explanation about it to every single person that receives or accepts your CV and business card. So, my suggestion is to leave the rest of your graphic elements (that I think work really well), and start thinking about a simple logo that reflects your personality, interest and talents. If you feel passionate and are so talented in 3D images, think about an object, graphic or logo that reflects this... but keep it simple!!!! In your portfolio you will be able to display this work with more space and specific information about it. Hope this helps.
Related to your week task: Why you don't even mention a task for this week? Don't you have a time table???? And if you don't, why? Be sure of not leaving class today without having one in your hand. It's your responsibility to know what you're expected to do and your deadlines for every single task until the day of your exhibition. See you in class.
My advice, just leave the back of it in white and keep the red and black line. It's enough with the front image to show people what you can do.
ReplyDeleteAlso, please be sure of writing down the name of the styles of typo you have worked with and leave the whole process of experimentation and changes in your blog so I can have a way of looking at the previous options you have.
Also, start trying with different palettes of colours, applications of monotone, duotone (maybe in your image) and upload it to your blog. Maybe you might like the results. Remember to put the images of the whole process. Until now, I can only see three images of a whole process of 4 or 5 weeks??? I'm afraid that won't be enough to give you a high individual mark. If you have sketching, testing, etc. related to your CV and business card design process, put it in your blog.
Hi Jonathan,
ReplyDeletePlease be sure to include your portfolio ideas (with images) and the work you will include in it. Remember that you will have to add 4 projects at least plus your business card, CV and website or blog design.
When you include this, be sure to mention:
Name of the project, aim and description.
I couldn't find any mention of your task this week (?????)
See you in class.
